Permanent Full-Time Position

Having just received the announcement of 115 million in this year’s budget for a new Emergency Department, new Theatre complex, new Ward and new Radiology precinct, the Department of Infrastructure at Bass Coast Health in Wonthaggi is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Engineer to manage capital works and other Infrastructure works as directed by the Director of Infrastructure. The successful candidate will assist in developing a comprehensive strategic preventative maintenance and replacement program for all major / critical items of plant. They will facilitate a prioritised risk management approach to ensure the ongoing operational availability of all major plant and equipment. They will oversee infrastructure upgrades as funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, to bring Wonthaggi Hospital to a contemporary state.

The Facilities Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all works are conducted in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and all other regulatory requirements and in compliance with Australian Standards.

Mandatory requirements of the position are:
• Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Graduate Engineer or Department of Transport Marine Engineering Certificate Class 2 Part A or Advanced Certificate.
• Minimum of 8 years hands on experience with facilities management
• Experience in managing minor / capital works projects.
• Practical experience with electrical switchboards and distribution systems and automatic transfer switches
• Practical experience with emergency generators supporting essential plant and equipment
• Practical experience with HVAC reticulated heating/cooling systems
• Practical experience with building Automation Systems (BMS) controlling HVAC and security controls
• AutoCAD experience
• Ability to attend the hospital in case of an emergency within a maximum period of 40 minutes
• A valid Police Check
