Bass Coast Family Day Care Mission Statement

Bass Coast Family Day Care has an ongoing commitment to the provision of a high quality education and care option for all children regardless of their social, cultural or economic circumstances. We foster an environment that is inclusive and encourages co-operative interaction for all members of our diverse community. We want children to be safe, happy and empowered. We support and respect our children, their families and the educators and staff of our service.

Bass Coast Family Day Care Goals

Provide an environment which requires commitment by staff and educator’s to Early Childhood Australia’s Code of Ethics and the Child Safety Standards Act 2015. All staff and educators of Bass Coast Family Day Care are required to observe child safe principles and expectations for appropriate behaviour towards and in the company of children.

All staff and educators of Bass Coast Family Day Care are responsible for supporting the safety, participation, well being and empowerment of children by:

  • Facilitating children’s learning through enriching play based experiences, discovery, creativity, exploration of the natural environments and social and community interactions;
  • Fostering growth, friendship and co-operation amongst all children in Bass Coast Family Day Care;
  • Encouraging children to ‘have a say’ and participate in all relevant organisational activities where possible, especially on issues that are important to them.
  • Promoting a culture that fosters the ability to accept and initiate new concepts including but not limited to the Early Years Learning and Development Framework;
  • Listening and responding to the views and concerns of children;
  • Promoting the cultural safety, participation and empowerment of Aboriginal children ;
  • Promoting the cultural safety, participation and empowerment of children with culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds and having a zero tolerance of discrimination;
  • Recognizing the critical importance of children, families and educators as partners in children’s learning;
  • Working with the wider community, other agencies and professionals to support children and families, and by actively promoting our service in the community;
  • Ensuring that staff and educators have access to, and are supported by educational (pedagogical) leaders;
  • Providing a range of professional learning opportunities that challenge and extend current thinking and are informed by sound, tested and diverse theoretical perspectives.

Who are the Family Day Care Educators?

All educators meet Education and Care Services National regulations and National Quality Framework requirements;
  • All educators must have minimum child care qualifications;
  • All educators must have current First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis training;
  • All educators and their families must undergo formal Working With Children and Criminal Record Checks;
  • All educators must be fully insured;
  • Each home is formally checked to ensure that children will have a safe environment to play;
  • The induction process includes a check of referees;
  • Support and guidance is offered to educators through learning opportunities and regular home visits.

Our educators are qualified, passionate and experienced. They are committed to providing an early learning program tailored to meet the care and learning needs of every child. They understand that partnerships with families and the community are vital to providing an environment where every child belongs and thrives.  For children the homed based, family focused environment is a great way to build confidence, self-esteem and social skills.
