Clinical Director of Emergency Medicine – Permanent, Full-Time

 

Bass Coast Health is seeking a suitably qualified Emergency Physician to lead the expansion of the Emergency Department at Wonthaggi Hospital.

 

Services provided at Bass Coast Health include an 86 bed hospital providing specialist medical and surgical services; together with satellite sites providing outpatient consultation and community services. This is a growing service that has just received $115 million from government to build a vibrant and significantly expanded Emergency Department.

  

Wonthaggi is situated 120kms south east of Melbourne and is close to beaches, tourist attractions and offers various leisure activities.

 

This position will work closely with Executive to:

  • Provide high quality, person centred care
  • Ensure timely management of patients in line with NEAT targets
  • Provide clinical governance and oversight of the High Dependency Unit
  • Ensure SMS and JMS staffing that provides safe cover 24/7, 7 days per week
  • Achievement of revenue and expenditure targets
  • Maintain and strengthen the ED as a training facility, including appropriate JMS training models
  • Maintain accreditation with ACEM, PMCV and ACHS

 

The successful applicant will have:

  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), as a Medical Practitioner
  • Fellowship of Australasian College of Emergency Medicine or equivalent
  • Demonstrated high level consultative and collaborative leadership skills
  • Sound understanding of clinical risk management, maintenance of clinical standards and application of clinical governance processes
  • Recent experience in leading a process of change
