CHANGES TO RADIOLOGY SERVICES AT BASS COAST HEALTH

Bass Coast Health (BCH) is changing Radiology Providers, with Regional Imaging Limited (RIL) commencing at Wonthaggi Hospital from 1 October 2018.

There will be a period of transition from the current providers to RIL and during this time new CT and X-Ray equipment will be installed and the Radiology area will be refurbished.

During this transition period (1st October 2018 to 17th October 2018), BCH will be unable to provide its usual radiology service to inpatients and outpatients. Services will recommence as follows: CT Services will be available to inpatients from 11th October 2018 and available to outpatients from 12th October 2018; OPG Dental X-Ray Services will be available to inpatients and outpatients from 17th October 2018; General X-Ray Services will be available to inpatients and outpatients from17th October 2018.

As such, BCH have requested local GP’s to refer patients elsewhere for CT and complex x-rays and Ambulance Victoria have been advised to transport relevant patients directly to local or metropolitan health services to ensure patients can get appropriate investigative treatment during this period.

Ultrasound and Breastscreening services will not be interrupted during this time and will be available throughout the transition.

Jan Child CEO said – “We are thrilled to be getting new equipment which will better serve our local community; but it does mean we have a brief period where services are unavailable.  We apologise to all members of the community for any inconvenience caused during this period of upgrade.   We have made arrangements with Monash Health, Peninsula Health, West Gippsland Health Service and Latrobe Regional Health to support any acutely unwell patients requiring urgent CT; our local health service colleagues (South Gippsland Hospital and Gippsland Southern Health Service) will also have their usual radiology services available during this period”.

If patients require any further information about where they can go during this period, they should contact the hospital on 56713384.
