Bass Coast Health Ladies Auxiliary have an impressive record raising funds for much-needed equipment for our local hospital. Pictured (L-R) are: Secretary Christine Van Eck, President Margaret Hender, Maureen Chisolm and Treasurer Marlene Talbot.

Bass Coast Health’s impressive Ladies Auxiliary are calling for locals to support their fundraising efforts to enhance the Wonthaggi Hospital’s surgical services.

The Auxiliary, who work year-round to raise funds for medical equipment for the health service, are holding a Mega Raffle to purchase equipment to support local orthopaedic surgeries.

Prizes on offer include a fabulous bedroom package donated by local business Rigby Home Furnishings to the value of $3,000;  a three-night getaway to King Island; and accommodation at the Esplanade Resort and Spa in Lakes Entrance.

Bass Coast Health CEO Jan Child was full of praise for the Auxiliary, saying, ”Our Ladies are passionate about supporting Bass Coast Health and we are so lucky to have them working tirelessly to improve our services. We have been able to attract excellent surgeons to join our team at Bass Coast Health and grow the depth and breadth of surgery for the local community.  We receive excellent support from the Department of Health and Human Services to pay for the surgeons and nurses, but like all hospitals, we need to fundraise for the equipment.  We are hoping that community members invest in their local hospital instead of donating to the big city hospitals - this will help us grow our services to ensure people can get their surgery locally”.

At only $5 a ticket, this is a great chance for people to show their support for Bass Coast Health and be in the running to win a prize.

Tickets are available by contacting Mandy Gilcrist, Bass Coast Health Volunteer Coordinator on 5671 3372.
