Cowboy hats, line dancing and cacti were the order of the day for Cooinda Lodge aged care residents who recently enjoyed a ‘Wild West’ day of activities and a barbecue luncheon.
Staff and volunteers created some impressive props including a large hessian horse and cacti backdrops. A visit from Laddy - a miniature pony was also a highlight.

Cooinda Lodge Manager, Tammi Thomas, said a themed day of activities will be held at Cooinda each month for residents, friends and family members to enjoy,

“It is great way to bring people together and to encourage people to express their creativity through making crafts, organising activities. Costumes, food and more.”

“Our volunteers play a big part in supporting staff to make days like this happen,” she said.

Cooinda Lodge is a 51 bed residential aged care facility that is based next to West Gippsland Hospital on the Landsborough Street campus.
